Goodbye, Sunday Scaries - Brain Dump

What is a Brain Dump? And Why Do You Need It?

You know those pesky Sunday Scaries... when your mimosa buzz from brunch has worn off and the Monday back-to-reality icky-ness creeps in? Ok, so I don't have a Sunday mimosa buzz as often as I'd like BUT the Sunday Scaries definitely creep in on me a lot.

How do we fix this?

As an Influencer and an entrepreneur, you don't get to turn off your "work brain" when you leave the office. Your mind is constantly buzzing with project ideas, content creation and task after task. It's enough to paralyze you. So, here's the one thing that can help you reclaim your mental clarity and make you feel much more organized.

Get it all out.

Go in your office or a chair or somewhere quiet. Make sure there's no laptop, cellphone, to-do list or distractions in sight. Use a pad of paper and start to write. Write down literally every thought, task, and idea that comes to your mind on that piece of paper (for me, it can be several pages). Write until you can't write anymore - your mind should be completely blank. Need avocados from the grocery store? Write it down. Forgot to check if ABC company read your pitch email? Write it down.

This alone should make you feel 1000X's better.

Now that you've got it all on paper, grab your laptop. Open up your task management tool (I'm obsessed with Asana) and create a new task for each item on your list. Once you've put each item onto your digital to-do list, assign each task to a project and set a due date. And shut your computer. Done.

Go do something else and let your mind rest.

You've taken all the cloudiness from your brain, pulled it out and made it into actionable steps. You are well on your way to getting each and every task completed because you did this brain dump. You go girl! Now, give yourself a break and enjoy that episode of Stranger Things in peace knowing that you're not missing anything and it will all get done.

Always cheering you on,
